Audience Member Robert Shayne runs around in a paper-mache head trying to scare people, and fails miserably. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Robert Shayne plays a scientist who in order to prove his theory about neanderthals being equal to humans because of brain size, develops a formula that regresses his cat to a sabertooth tiger and then also regresses his housekeeper and himself into dangerous neanderthals. Near Ed Wood levels of bad acting, writing, and direction ensure. Only watch this film for camp value, and it does certainly have that. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I'll be honest, I fell asleep during this and was falling in and out while watching this movie for the first time. So there where somethings I didn't get about the plot. That there was a sabretooth cat and an evil serum. I wasn't sure how much of that was real or not so I woke myself up and thought maybe fully awake the plot would make more sense. It didn't. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Not a very exciting story, it's just too typical and relays too much similarities with werewolf films. The characters are dull, the action is minor, and the ending is stale. Interesting moments here and there, but otherwise it is forgettable. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member As I said about the other film in Scream Factory's recent Double Feature Blu-ray release, I don't have anything really positive to say about The Beast of Hollow Mountain or its counterpart, The Neanderthal Man. Shout! Factory seemed really intent on releasing this one, as it's also available in a 4 pack DVD release as well, but I don't understand why. The movie is about a typical mad scientist who decides to experiment on animals to test his theories about evolution (causing a sabre-toothed tiger to run around at the beginning of the film) when he decides to experiment on himself, turning him into the Neanderthal Man. He then roams the forest, killing random people and wreaking havoc wherever he goes. First of all, the characters are terrible, including the scientist who is angry about everything all the time, and our leads are just awful. I guess if I had to say something positive it would be that the transformation scenes work done pretty well, but that's all. The movie is pretty terrible considering all of the factors involved. It's another movie that I can't say I'd recommend, even to fans of the genre or of bad movies in general. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Un Jeckyll y Hyde...
