Audience Member The Neighbor's Wife and Mine (Madamu to nyōbō) is a 1931 Japanese comedy film directed by Heinosuke Gosho. It was Japan's first feature length film to fully employ sound, as well the earliest surviving Japanese sound film. In 1931, the film won the Kinema Junpo Award for Best Film. Vision wrote: "distractions! A playwright's paradise. Atsushi Watanabe; amazing acting. Admire the annoying wife and daughter. Kinuyo Tanaka and Mitsunko Ichimura held their own. Admire the tempo of the film. Admiration for the film being the only reserved first with sound. Three fries for direction, story and acting."
