Charlie C This genuinely funny, genre-blending creation from Pat Battistini, Shane Boroomand, and Zak Lee kept me wanting more all the way through – twice! While it borrows so many familiar ideas from different categories of movies, the team has cooked up something new and engaging. There are several quirky characters that really held my attention without being ridiculous. And the embedded love story – while not the main thread – provides another kind of interest. Although I’m not a martial arts fan, I didn’t find that those scenes distracted from the flow. Most new comedies are so trite that I turn them off after the first 10-20 minutes. Here is something distinctively new that you will enjoy. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/25 Full Review Victor O I’m a fan of Cerina Vincent and was looking up her filmography and noticed this. Sounded tacky but her smile made me interested. A down on his luck Hollywood studio executive is overburdened by a mafioso debt with a reputation that has been less than exemplary but not just him his cousin a stunt choreographer who has producers more concerned about saving money with post-production than doing a good job shooting. With so much against them, the executive decides to double down and make a martial arts musical, undercutting but also welcoming his cousin’s clout while still facing troubles. Raising money, casting, music, sets, script, as well as angry mobsters and an old flame. But the show must go on and it’s made with great drama. This was a nice surprise. Tons of comedy, a little bit of a romance – what can I say about Cerina Vincent, not hard to fall in love with her. Outrageous but not without its charm, a nice watch.
