Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times "The Oregonian" teases us with horror and amnesia-mystery conventions without sealing the deal either way. Rated: 2/5 Jun 8, 2012 Full Review David Fear Time Out Advocates of bad-trip cinema, you may commence cult-worshipping this warped nightmare now. Rated: 3/5 Jun 5, 2012 Full Review Chuck Wilson Village Voice Writer-director Calvin Lee Reeder, making his feature debut, isn't interested in satisfying the conventional expectations of an audience. Jun 5, 2012 Full Review J Hurtado ScreenAnarchy Every frame of the film had a purpose, and that purpose was to unsettle. Mission accomplished. Nov 6, 2017 Full Review Eugene Novikov Film Blather Reeder has a feel for the indelibly creepy; some of the visions he conjures felt like the kinds of nightmares I might have in my nightmares. Rated: B- Jul 28, 2011 Full Review David D'Arcy Screen International In Calvin Lee Reeder's unsentimental feature, nature is a place where you get lost, and where there's a threat around every corner. Audience Member Nutty and disturbing Lynchian nightmare fuel. Almost too grating for what they were attempting but there’s some serious artistry here. Glad I saw it but would not fux with again. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/30/20 Full Review Audience Member Breathtakingly sophomoric in its conception and execution but nonetheless in a way compelling, like finding a "mating ball" of garter snakes in one's backyard: it's just weird enough to keep one from walking away. I'm probably being overly generous by giving it two stars, but what the heck: it killed a couple of hours between now and the grave. Briefly put, I have had acid trips (bad ones) with better plot development and characterization. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Calvin Reeder's movie is actually a number of stolen disturbing cinematic cliches stitched together to form a mess of confused horror. But no one can deny that Reeder doesn't manage to create some oddly artistic and semi-comedic creepiness from beginning to end. It is quite flawed, but fans of trippy horror movies will be entertained. This film along with his short features offers an interesting glimpse into an experimental horror filmmaker finding his own voice. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Not even sure there is a movie here. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member i was so bored i couldn't turn it off. plus i was just totally intrigued on what the fuck it all meant. i still do not know. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Maybe I'm just not smart enough to appreciate whatever one would classify this film as. In all honesty I did not, could not, watch until the end. 50 minutes into a 1 hour 21 minute movie full of scenes of walking, crappy sound effects, and no discernable plot or even vague direction. The "failed experiment" that is this film opens to a young girl awakening from an auto accident, and discovering two presumably dead passengers thrown from the car. As she walked back the way she had obviously came from, you can hear what seems to be a heartbeat monitor which turns into all out screeching accompanied by a blinding light. This part of the movie made more sense than anything else in the movie. Every scene to me felt like it was trying to emulate the later scenes in "The Shining", but they just fell flat. Or maybe I just don't get it. If you do, could you explain it to me? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
