May 6, 2020 Full Review Lea Palmieri Decider There's something comforting about watching teens talk about friendship and dating and college applications, subjects that actually make The Outcasts an outcast among current teen films. Dec 20, 2017 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue This innocuous, mildly amusing wish-fulfillment fantasy comes right off the assembly line of this unfortunate subgenre, destined to bore even the least discriminating teens with its aggressive barrage of clichs and stereotypes. Victor O I saw this in Peyton Lists' filmography and decided to check it out. Sadly, her role in this wasn't as prominent as Victoria Justice and Eden Sher, even more importantly the whole basis for the story just smelled like a bad movie but I couldn't help but add another notch to one of my new favorite actresses. Two girls in high school are living their lives most awkwardly as the outcasts of their society, with cliques and social lives these two care a great deal about fitting in but don't. So, one of them gets it in her head to be a uniter of the least popular cliques in high school and get revenge. It becomes a massive disaster and fiasco that leads to the girls realizing whether or not it's worth losing themselves for popularity. This was a supremely weird movie, feeling more like a parody of coming-of-age teen flicks than a real teen flick. Victoria Justice is gorgeous, funny, and a supremely talented actress. But this story was terrible, a waste of time if it wasn't for Justice. Some other great performers contributed, but this was bad. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/24/23 Full Review Sean S This movie does its best to flip the scrip on the coming-of-age movies. It does have its laugh out loud moments, but this movie never reaches its full potential. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/11/23 Full Review Audience Member The film is fun, but it falls into an extremely saturated formula and doesn't do much different from years of high school stories, the film can't bring depth to the debates nor to most of the characters. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member One of those movies I really don’t feel proud of liking but I did 2.9 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/05/22 Full Review Audience Member Pretty good watch, would watch again, and can recommend. This is really you're basic "coming of age", "high school clique war" movie. What makes it stand out is the cast. I just happen to recognize them from several different things, but they're clearly acting over their weight class in this movie. Eden Sher ("The Middle") has the undaunted hyper-active peppy thing down to a science. It would be like watching happy puppy videos to just see her do her thing for hours on end. Victoria Justice ("Victorious") has a big enough personality to match Eden's enthusiasm and enough control to make her character grow into it. Ashley Rickards ("Awkward") oddly shows her talent by being a narrowly closeted character and the proverbial "straight man". Peyton List ("Jessie / Bunk'd") has a subtle role, but I'm just happy to see her not playing an idiot. Along with all the other supporting roles, the cast really knocks it out of the park with their delivery. I would have liked it to be a little "more", the potential is there, I just don't know what could have made a high school story like this "great". Solidly good watch though, if you're okay subjecting yourself to "high school drama", then you should enjoy this. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Es aburrida, simplona y sin nada de gracia. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews
