Twelve-year-old Max Glick (Noam Zylberman) wouldn't exactly call his life exciting. It's the 1960s, and he resides in an isolated Jewish community in Manitoba, Canada. But, with his upcoming bar mitzvah, things are about to get a lot more interesting -- especially when Max meets Rabbi Teitelbaum (Saul Rubinek). Fresh from Chicago and there to help the boy prepare for the ceremony, Teitelbaum proves to be an invigorating free spirit who helps Max discover his own path with humor and chutzpah.

Bill M 09/01/2019 This movie is pretty bad. It's visually bland and the major players "eat the scenery". But there's a guy who plays a minor roll, that of Max's first rabbi, who's kinda believable. His name is Bill...something. Maybe it'll come to me later. See more 02/25/2006 I've had this on my shelf for probably ten years or more. I have reached for it probably twice, no more than three times. It is the type of movie you really want to love because the story line is noble and clean. Truly, there is nothing bad about the movie, but it doesn't compel you to grab it often. If you are looking for theatrics, action, or side-splitting comedy, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a good, clean, humorous comedy you can watch with the whole family, this is it. It is a coming of age comedy surrounding a young Jewish kid from Canada. See more Read all reviews
