Audience Member Cute drama, very languishing style acting, bad camera filming and angles. Humorous at points Rated 2/5 Stars •  Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Just after the Civil War. a woman accompanies her mother to her uncle's house after his death for the reading of his will. She becomes obsessed with a portrait of her cousin which she believes contains her ghost. This Mexican shot adaptation of a Poe short story has a bland, over lit, TV movie quality to it that renders it completely lacking in atmosphere and suspense. It's the last feature film starring studio actress Wanda Hendrix, who is clearly far too old for the part. The middle third of the film is an incredibly long expository flashback that tells a far more compelling story than the main body of the film. In fact, there's a stinger at the end of the film pertaining to this flashback that just makes the whole ghost angle irrelevant. Slow pacing, and the dubs aren't too great, but it has a nice old mood and fits together for the most part, though it starts going downhill by the end.
