Audience Member Lame slapstick. One of Charlie's worst for my money. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Lame slapstick. Not Charlie at his best. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member It was an okey Film. I would recommend it more for little kids who enjoy slap stick comedy and Looney Tunes because that's the kind of comedy this film had. I liked how the film ended. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member One of Chaplin's first films The Pawnshop has some funny gags but isn't anything spectacular. Chaplin's physical comedy is as good as anyone and with such an early film in the annuals of history you could tell he was still perfecting the trade. The fight sequences between Chaplin and John Rand are enough to give it a watch. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member 75% One of Charlie's most famous and successful Mutual shorts, The Pawnshop puts The Tramp working at, as you might expect, a pawnshop. It's a great formula actually. The Tramp + exotic objects = Awesometown. Well, it's not really awesometown. It's more like prettygoodtown. There are some great moments here, and the entire film is pretty damn funny, but it's not very consistent as a slight majority of the jokes grow tired pretty fast and are basically slapstick cliches. There's not much to the story as well. It's still a great enjoyable film overall, and most likely worth your time. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review eric b The clock-repair scene is hilarious but, otherwise, the slapstick punches and ladder gags seem like tired cliches now. Oh no, and here comes the stern but hapless street cop.... Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
