Audience Member "Do you think the porter and the cook have no anecdotes, no experiences, no wonders for you? Their minds are scrawled over with thoughts. They shall one day bring a lantern and read the inscriptions." - Emerson Superb documentary of true students and true teachers -- that is, those without ego. When learning happens, the identity as "teacher" or "student" disappears, and the best teacher is the one who is learning most. Qui Discit doscet ("Who teaches, learns") Tthese janitors tell their stories, and the most impressive thing is their depth and humility. "Ten minutes of conversation with a wise person is worth ten years in a library." Enjoy, and take notes, ye wise ones! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member another amazing movie by Patrick Shen... showing that you dont have to have it all to be happy and live a fulfilling, inspiring life... visually the movie couldnt be any better -- showing the viewer a view from another angle of life... a must watch Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member This was a great find. The story of these individuals is not often told. The life insights these people shared were as profound as the philosophers I encounter at university. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member A very real life look into those that clean up after us. This was a rather different way to look at those who work where we work and learn. I know for myself when I am at school I always say hello to whichever janitor is around me, but I never really think much of who they are as individuals, and I usually think what happened in their lives that had them end up cleaning after me and my classmates. The idea never occurred to me that someone would actually like that job, and having the opportunity to be around so many different types of people and having the ability to learn new things from others. This is something to watch if you have ever wondered about janitors or want to be able to see a few different people for who they really are. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Real life philosophies of custodians that enjoy there simple lives at the same time as doing some monumental things. This movie is damn amazing for a blank slate documentary with no real slant or bias, just a clear picture of simple people living the beatific life in different paths. if you like the idea of humanity you will like this movie. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member There's nothing flashy about this documentary or the six custodians; however, their insights, passions, failures, and zest for living life linger with the viewer long after the credits end. A small gem. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Read all reviews
