Jeff M This 20-minute film won the Oscar for Best Live Action Short. In the spirit of such feature-length greats as MY DINNER WITH ANDRE and MASS, this is yet another example that characters simply sitting around talking can be as riveting as any number of visual stimuli. And this is an even more extreme example as we only see one of the two participants in the conversation. I suppose it's a testament to the vocal abilities of Broadbent that we come to care about the outcome of his character despite never seeing him face to face. This is the ideal material for a short film as too much of it would either come across as masochistically tense or ultimately monotonous. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/17/24 Full Review Audience Member Moving story. Excellent actress. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member This is an excellent short film. It may be only 22 minutes long but it's very emotional and powerful. Wonderful acting by the main characters (physical and in voice). Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Great short. The oscar was well deserved! Well done! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Short, but very moving. I had a few tears in my eyes by the end! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Outstanding. I don't usually watch shorts but I was on a plane and it was playing so... At 21 minutes, it had more emotional depth and impact than anything I have seen in at least a year. Deeply romantic, sad, and, at the end, a little uplifting Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Read all reviews
