The movie centers on Paul Carpenter (Patrick Gibson) and Sophie Pettingel (Sophie Wilde), lowly, put-upon interns who begin working at the mysterious London firm J.W. Wells & Co., and become increasingly aware that their employers are anything but conventional. Charismatic villains Humphrey Wells (Christoph Waltz), the CEO of the company, and middle manager Dennis Tanner (Sam Neill) are disrupting the world of magic by bringing modern corporate strategy to ancient magical practices, and Paul and Sophie discover the true agenda of the vast corporation.

There’s ramshackle funhouse charm to spare here, and while the plot occasionally trips over the odd loose floorboard, the fun ideas and game performances soon pick it back up.

If the tension flickers on and off... The Portable Door never entirely loses its edge, thanks largely to an irascible Neill as Wells’s right-hand man, and a sharp-tongued sensibility reminiscent of Roald Dahl.

Performances are all competent (this is THE year of Sophie Wilde, after all), the visual effects deliver, and in general, “The Portable Door” manages to have a fun and eccentric tone, which ended up charming me. Full review in Spanish.

This is not a bad movie. It starts slow, and a bit confusing, in the beginning. But once it gets going, and you start to get the idea of what it is about, then it becomes interesting, and enjoyable. Just give it a chance. I recommend seeing this film.

3.0 stars; The majority of the stars in this rating are for the excellent special effects and Patrick Gibson's innocent performance in the lead role. The plot was good. Anyone who remembers their first days at a new job can identify with the emotions Gibson's character experiences. If you are looking for anything more than a standard 'wizard' movie, you will be disappointed. Enjoy it for what it is.

Overall, it was a great feel-good movie. The acting was charming and I felt was "ON POINT." Sophie Wilde is beautiful. And 😱🫠Patrick Gibson's🥵😍💯 character, a sheepishly charming proper gentleman, is wrapped around the real-life fox of an actor. 😅😅😅 I never knew these were a series of books. I will start with the first book. I would love to see more movies in this series and read the books AFTER each sequel. From this day forward, I pledge to "📽⭐️👍👍🍅🍿" (follow)!! This can grow into a new WIZARDING world to fall in love with. If no more movies are made, I will not continue reading the series. ❤️🙌💯

I loved this movie !! Patrick Gibson is charming innocent and love his portrayal of the character. It lost the story a little in the middle but completely got back on track towards the end. I highly recommend this family movie! Hope there’s more to come. Ah
