Cees T Unwitting wizard gets hired to find a door and gets spooked by goblins. 6/10 - Okay. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/23/24 Full Review Stephen C In this enchanting cinematic journey, "The Portable Door" unfolds a tale that seamlessly blends the enchanting realm of wizards, goblins, and magical towels with the everyday challenges of the corporate world. The story begins with Paul's quest for employment, leading him to a mysterious building where he encounters Sofie, and the stage is set for an extraordinary adventure. The film's charm lies in its ability to effortlessly weave the mundane with the magical. Paul's job interview takes an unexpected turn when a letter arrives, revealing he and Sofie are destined to work together. As interns, they step into a world where Humphrey Wells, the CEO, seeks to intertwine magic with corporate control, attempting to seize the very essence of human souls. The narrative takes an intriguing twist as we discover Humphrey's dark secret—his father, John Wells, has been trapped in the Nether for years, a victim of his son's magical manipulation. Paul and Sofie find themselves ensnared in the mystical Nether with the lost father, setting the stage for a magical escape. The heart of the film lies in Paul's unwitting discovery of his magical gift, a talent that becomes the beacon guiding them out of the Nether. A riveting battle between father and son wizards ensues, culminating in a poignant moment when Sofie's telepathic encouragement reveals Paul's innate ability to create magical doors. The resolution is both magical and heartwarming as the son is trapped in the Nether by the father, a poetic twist of fate. The film concludes on a positive note as Paul and Sofie, having overcome the mystical trials, secure positions within the magical corporate empire and discover love blooming amidst the enchantment. "The Portable Door" not only captivates with its whimsical magic but also leaves the audience with a message of self-discovery, resilience, and the extraordinary possibilities that can arise from the most unexpected situations. With a perfect blend of romance, magic, and corporate intrigue, this film offers a delightful escape into a world where doors open to both adventure and love. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/24 Full Review Richard C Nice story supported by great actors. Entertaining and provides interest for almost all family members. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/24 Full Review Temesgen W Very enjoyable The girl is such a great actor second movie I've seen her in after her other "Talk to Me" Love her strong acting. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/10/24 Full Review L L Meh, looked good on the trailer and was really excited but it just fell flat, not enough character depth and a criminally underused Sam Neil, pedestrian. might be good for a very young audience but not above 15. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/08/24 Full Review Gary W I thought it was very enjoyable. It was imaginative, the main character was relatable, all the characters were singular and interesting. The sense of mystery held well, the plot device was fascinating. I wasn't expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/06/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News There’s fun afoot, but at nearly two hours, this one just wanders, taking forever to capitalize on that portable door. Rated: 2/4 Apr 12, 2023 Full Review Robbie Collin Daily Telegraph (UK) There’s ramshackle funhouse charm to spare here, and while the plot occasionally trips over the odd loose floorboard, the fun ideas and game performances soon pick it back up. Rated: 4/5 Apr 7, 2023 Full Review Phil Hoad Guardian If the tension flickers on and off... The Portable Door never entirely loses its edge, thanks largely to an irascible Neill as Wells’s right-hand man, and a sharp-tongued sensibility reminiscent of Roald Dahl. Rated: 3/5 Apr 3, 2023 Full Review Sebastian Zavala Kahn Me gusta el cine Performances are all competent (this is THE year of Sophie Wilde, after all), the visual effects deliver, and in general, “The Portable Door” manages to have a fun and eccentric tone, which ended up charming me. Rated: 3.5/5 Oct 2, 2023 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue Beneath the visual spectacle of its elaborate funhouse of secrets and sorcery, this fantasy adventure yields only surface-level thrills.
