Nell Minow Common Sense Media Funny, exciting, and involving. Rated: 4/5 Dec 28, 2010 Full Review Hank Sartin Chicago Reader This Cartoon Network feature-length animation manages to teach kids some good lessons and amuse the grown-ups without overdosing on pop-culture references. May 20, 2008 Full Review Alan Morrison Empire Magazine Utilising the cheapest-looking animation ever to grace a cinema screen, this Cartoon Network spin-off will only appeal to a fraction of pre-teen girls. Rated: 2/5 Dec 30, 2006 Full Review Mat Brunet AniMat's Review (YouTube) I know this is meant to show the first time they fight crime, but their movie is not among their greatest moments. Then again, I cannot say that I didn’t have a bit of fun watching this either. Rated: 6/10 Jun 14, 2024 Full Review Dorothy Woodend The Tyee (British Columbia) The Powerpuff Girls takes place in a similar vein, although its message is a little more rockum sockum, it still it has style and wit to spare, and a message of empowerment for bad little monkeys everywhere. Aug 24, 2017 Full Review Felix Vasquez Jr. Cinema Crazed This would have been much better had it been reduced to a one hour episode on television rather than a stretched feature film. Trafalgar L A surprisingly violent origin story to the classic television series. The story is about the creation of the titular characters and the birth of Mojo JoJo. Unfortunately, it was hampered by a lack of advertising and marketing and was possibly effected by the traumatic aftermath of 9/11. But, it deserves to be reassessed and praised for attempting to move a beloved television series onto the big screen. It is not a bad movie by any means it was just a victim of circumstance. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/29/24 Full Review Anonymous U Blossom and Buttercup arguing is like my Grandpa shouting at the news, or dad yelling at NFL, and the baby Bubbles crying is me when dad grounds me! Shrek is better! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/27/24 Full Review Buttercup U So basically the writing is amazing and i love how i'm in it and i love the fact that the powerpuff girls have to beat mojo jojo and his primates! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Over 20 years old and it’s a shame I missed it in theaters since I was a big fan of the show The hit series on Cartoon Network makes its debut on the silver screen starring those adorable super powered children Professor Utonium lives in the city of Townsville; crime is rampant and evil steps on the citizens The professor then comes up with a solution making perfect little girls out of sugar, spice, and everything nice But an accidental ingredient is added called Chemical X, from then on 3 of his daughters are born with superpowers named Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup Unfortunately the girls fail to fit in to be normal after nearly causing unintentional damage to the city Being labeled as freaks they run into an intelligent ape named Mojo Jojo who also feels ostracized, his big plan is to secretly use the girls and their powers to create a machine to “make the town a better place” by injecting himself and an army with his own mixture of Chemical X It’s up to the girls to set things right and save everyone from Mojo’s devious plan It's a real shame this flopped at the box office no more Cartoon Network films came about But I'm happy the show was popular enough and see their origins, also got good if not great reviews It does feel like an extended tv episode but has enough laughs, pop culture references, and terrific animation next to fun action set pieces Yes it could've used a more dramatic story with twists and turns Maybe the major problem was not taking itself too seriously and the writing could've used more cleverness but the action and comedy make it fun A short, harmless adaptation of a popular cartoon show for sure Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/04/23 Full Review StephenPaul C LOL, the funniest 01 hour: and 14 minutes of animation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/21/23 Full Review SMarioSJ 8 Despite the fact that it didn't do much at the box office when it was released, this powerpuff girls movie is fun, colorful and entertaining, the 3D with 2D animation is amazing. This movie is acceptable to entertain yourself for a while seeing the origin of these heroines and fighting with the funniest and most evil enemy in the world, although some say that it is a movie only for girls, they are wrong, since it is for both boys and girls and for course for the whole family, the truth is worth watching this film, as it will bring back memories of these loved ones and their characters from their series to become fond of them again, the truth is that you will not regret it.
