English working class teen David (Charlie Creed-Miles) often clashes with his police officer father (David Shawyer). The artistically inclined David meets Rachel (Vanessa Hadaway), a wealthy drama student from the United States who has her own family problems. Before long, Rachel and David fall for each another, much to the chagrin of their parents. The couple tries to stay together, but, when Rachel's manic ex-boyfriend finds out about David, there is an ugly, life-changing confrontation.
