Miriam A So moving and uplifting but so devastatingly sad all at once. I am lucky if I can thread my needles on the first try and to see these men create such beautiful ART with just a few weeks of instruction was mind blowing. Must see! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/01/25 Full Review Kalissa H A very heartwarming short film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/26/25 Full Review Sue H This documentary is so uplifting. It is wonderful to see how dedicated the men are, and how much thought they put into customising each quilt. In the workshop, they seem such upstanding men but it would be helpful to know a little more of their backstories. My admiration would be that much more if I had an idea of how far their journeys have brought them. All in all, kudos to the rehabilitation programmes for allowing this project in the prison. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/24/25 Full Review SkyRo P "The Quilters" is a short documentary currently available on Netflix that explores the experiences of a group of men, some of whom are incarcerated, while others are dedicated to helping those in prison develop a meaningful hobby that serves the community. While the film tackles an interesting subject, its brevity poses a challenge. Short documentaries can often struggle to strike the right balance, either omitting crucial information or overwhelming viewers with too much in a limited timeframe. Unfortunately, I found this film to be somewhat lacking. It wasn't terrible, but I wouldn't consider it worth a second viewing or recommend it to others. The pacing felt rushed, and overall, it left me feeling more bored than engaged. It simply didn’t provide the depth or insight I was hoping for. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/20/25 Full Review Juniper R In a time when people are being viewed as criminals solely on skin color or immigration status, this documentary is extremely needed. It’s a reminder that incarcerated people are human beings with emotions, passions, and skills that need to be nurtured, not ignored. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/18/25 Full Review Green C Incredibly moving. These men learned a true passion and talent while incarcerated. Loved it.
