A reclusive screenwriter retreats to a remote cabin to revive a classic 80s slasher -- but when her screenplay starts writing back and masked strangers arrive with a hidden agenda, the lines between homage, horror, and reality bleed together in this meta, blood-soaked thriller. When Allina Green, a hotshot indie screenwriter, is hired to revive a cult slasher franchise, she and her fiancée Deetz retreat to a remote rental to 'method-write' a fresh take. But as Allina's script begins to rewrite itself and two unsettling strangers show up claiming to have booked the same cabin, her weekend writing retreat becomes a terrifying descent into fandom, identity, and a legacy she never asked to inherit.

With The Red Mask, filmmaker Ritesh Gupta has a hit in the making. It’s hyperaware enough about genre not to be distracting and original enough to stand out in the current slasher renaissance. Go to Full Review
