Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News A low-budget but decent production... it’s not a bikini romp; it features strong women in bathing suits who are confronting attackers. Rated: 2.5/4 Aug 11, 2022 Full Review Noah Berlatsky Chicago Reader Victim and victimizer are shuffled so you end up feeling like you’re on the side of the weak even as you feel the rush of being one of the strong. Aug 6, 2022 Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times Overall, the action here isn’t as taut as it was in “The Reef,” and the shark effects aren’t as impressive. Still, for the most part the movie delivers what it promises. Jul 31, 2022 Full Review Rick Bentley KGET-TV (Bakersfield, CA) It is the performance by Liane that sells the terror. Rated: B- Aug 9, 2023 Full Review Alistair Lawrence Common Sense Media But this movie doesn't manage to repeat the slow-burning intrigue of its predecessor, with an uneven balance between the movie's action and thriller elements, and the emotional journey of its lead. Rated: 2/5 Nov 28, 2022 Full Review Jessica Scott Nightmarish Conjurings Though it’s not the best of the subgenre and pales in comparison to its predecessor...The Reef: Stalked still succeeds, providing an effective bit of aquatic horror that should satisfy fans looking for new scares during Shark Week. SkyRo P "The Reef: Stalked" is a film that falls into the category of being decent but not particularly captivating. While it wasn't terrible, it also didn't have that special quality that would draw viewers in. The actresses in the film seemed a bit scattered and unfocused, coming across as more like side characters rather than taking on central roles. The plot, focusing on the stalking shark element, did deliver on the expected suspense and tension, but the overall execution felt pushed, rushed, and forced. Ultimately, the movie didn't leave a lasting impression and lacked the depth or engagement needed to make it a memorable watch. While it wasn't a complete disaster, it also didn't stand out enough to warrant a revisit or a strong recommendation. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/25/24 Full Review Addie H This movie is just awful, extremely low budget and boring. So unrealistic and acting is not great. Starting laughing when someone got bit. Hate it so much. One of the worse i’ve seen in a very long time. Scenery is just ugly by the way. Don’t waste your time on it. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/31/24 Full Review Gary J Wanted to like the movie. We are big fans of shark movies. This one had some nice scenes and scenery, but overall the movie was a let down. Not nearly as good as the movie The Reef or other shark movies. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/02/24 Full Review Raincloud M If you like any other shark movie ever, group of friends, extremely dumb characters that spend five minutes looking in suspense for the shark without actually trying to save themselves, and enough logic to questionably power 3rd grade biology facts, you're in the right place. Do beware the drama. I Personally wouldn't be pouting over an argument in my last moments alive but hey, everyone has a thing. Almost no unique factors that sets this apart as THE shark movie to watch. But A+++ on the comedy. Started the movie in search of the eerie I'm beings stalked by something I can't see with dead eyes feeling, and ended up laughing extremely hard at the flawless logic and apparent death wishes of the protagonists. Some of the effects, jump scares, and factors were very hilarious too, though amazing for the low budget of the film. Don't want to spoil anything for those that wish to watch, but if you've ever wanted to improvise a song about sharks in silly situations, your creative flow will blossom like these characters fail to. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/08/24 Full Review London H Super boring, the shark looked good and the past story is good but the whole movie overall is really boring with the storyline Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/15/23 Full Review Eric G Worst movie I've seen in a long long time. The CGI shark was horrible. Shark was bad at killing. Story, bad. The only realistic thing was how stupid the characters were. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
