Audience Member Awesome film about a young girl in modern H.K. who remembers bits and pieces of her past life in Imperial China, and tries to act accordingly, resolving her karmic connections. Very well done. I have watched in the theater when it first came out, and again on dvd. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member It had the common flaws most HK movies had had back in the end-1980s/early-1990s. And apparently, both Clara Law (the director) & Joey Wang (the leading actress playing the protagonist) couldn't well handle their jobs here. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member This was banned in China for its pungent comparison of modern party politics to the abuses committed by the aristocrats of old. Intriguing and well-acted, with a love quadrangle that has an amoral antagonist -- something different in Chinese movies. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Yes it's another late 80s ghost movie featuring Joey Wong and also Eric Tsang, though this still doesn't make it a good movie. Eric, as Joeys rich but wimpy husband, seems totally lost in this one, and though this might suit the character he is playing it's not very enjoyable to watch. The story is endlessly (and somehow pointlessly) moving forth and back without really getting anywhere. Interlaced with a series of flashbacks from Joeys previous life which forecast what she will experience next, the plot follows the downward spiral of her aimless and unhappy life. All this happens almost entirely without any tensions. Rather than drama the overall feeling here is one of helplessness. The only positive aspect is Joey of course. Here you will find her wearing various and often fashionable outfits, always looking good and most of the time on the screen. Also the movie is quite well produced. Besides this there is not much to be excited about. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member A woman realised that she is the reincarnation of Golden Lotus, a legendary beauty in ancient China. She mistakenly thought that she was caught in the pattern of events, but she didn't realise that it don't have to be that way... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Read all reviews
