Three men on a raft drift down the Xiao River in China. It's piloted by Pan (Tao Yulin), a veteran rafter whose life on the river cost him the only woman he ever loved (Hu Ronghua). Zhao left behind a wife and seven children to find work. Shi Gu (Tang Qingming) is nursing a broken heart, after his sweetheart was forced to marry the son of a politician. Along their journey, the men encounter a former associate who has been left behind by society and decide to help him.
