Calum Marsh New York Times It’s this glory that the climbers were dedicated to pursuing, and through their eyes we can well understand the beauty of the quest. May 5, 2022 Full Review Danny Leigh Financial Times Moments of awe and tranquillity are rarely free of mortal danger. Rated: 3/5 Mar 3, 2022 Full Review Phuong Le Guardian While the juxtaposition of different timelines results in occasional clunkiness, the breathtaking cinematography more than makes up for the uneven telling. Rated: 3/5 Feb 28, 2022 Full Review Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru Occasionally exhilarating and mildly engaging, but often unfocused and fails to pack an emotional punch. It bites off more than it could chew. May 8, 2022 Full Review Edward Porter Sunday Times (UK) Interweaving the two narratives produces a higgledy-piggledy film, but the Washburn stuff is informative, and the footage of Ozturk and Wilkinson’s expedition is often spectacular. Rated: 3/5 Mar 9, 2022 Full Review Matthew Bond The Mail on Sunday (UK) Lurching confusingly between mountaineering past and present and over-reliant on young, male talking heads, it’s an overlong and unrewarding old slog. Brent A gripping, yet somewhat disjointed, exploration into the lives and minds of professional climbers attempting to achieve the so far unachievable. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/15/22 Full Review Audience Member Every portion of the film having to do with the contemporary climber bros was truly insipid. The historical portion of the film that concerned the history of aerial photography was actually interesting. They should have simply made a film about Bradford Washburn. It was almost as if the climber bros who made the film were using Washburn's fame and artistic, alpine, and cartographic accomplishments to bolster their brands. Every aspect of the film having to do w today's climber bros was melodramatic, bathetic, and just truly daft. For those who love great climbing films, this is not one of them. Watching a group of 30 year old white dudes who are all clearly not very bright opine about their "quest" was cringe-inducing. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews
