Geoff Berkshire Variety Katie Cassidy's intrepid lead performance can't overcome the limitations of a low-budget comicbook adaptation. Sep 19, 2014 Full Review Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com It's dull when one wants it to be ludicrous, and serves as a reminder of how hard it is to bring comic books to celluloid life on a limited budget. Rated: 1.5/4 Sep 19, 2014 Full Review Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times Someone should have scribbled a better script for "The Scribbler." Sep 18, 2014 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com A D-grade extravaganza of unpleasantness. Rated: 0.5/5 Sep 5, 2019 Full Review Abbie Bernstein Assignment X The Scribbler doesn't live up to its premise, but it still has some good scenes and provides food for thought. Rated: B- Jan 11, 2019 Full Review Joe Bendel Epoch Times The Scribbler incorporates elements from several genres (science fiction, horror, dark fantasy) and generates some clever disbelief-suspending psychological double-talk. Lloyd S Boring and crappy story. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/14/25 Full Review Audience Member John Suits directs Katie Cassidy, the late Michelle Trachtenberg, Gina Gershon, and Eliza Dushku The story involves a criminal psychologist and a woman Suki said to have had multiple personalities when she was at a psychiatric institution While being interrogated she recounts the story of how she came to be, mainly she’s been using a machine designed to eliminate her personalities But because of this her most dangerous one is unleashed The film takes place in one location so maybe I wasnt prepared for that and the slower buildup This woman has more of a psychological battle to contend with I do find it clever though the filmmakers have this reversed perspective with certain things like numbers and letters even various title cards The more comic book like elements don’t happen until the last half There’s cool ideas here about psychology, madness, and human potential but it takes a long while to see them fully executed It also feels emotionally lacking Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/01/25 Full Review Audience Member Flawed, maybe that's what makes it interesting. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review steve d extremely different deeply odd and fantastically cast. This is Cassidy's best work and she is incredible. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member A rare & enjoyable film that doesn't rely on cgi to keep you gripped. The direction is attention grabbing with witty content coupled by a great cast that truly brings something unique to the screen. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Find out where M-night Shamalon stole his idea for Split from. This is an entertaining movie... if you can stand a purposefully illogical story. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Read all reviews
