Hyett earned his reputation as a prosthetics wiz on films like The Descent and The Woman in Black; the human monsters he gives us here might as well be made out of cardboard. Go to Full Review

While lead actress Rosie Day turns in a phenomenal performance, The Seasoning House is more bite than bark, creating an uneven and empty watch. Go to Full Review

David R Nov 6 I enjoyed the movie until the end. Had such an opportunity for retribution and conclusion, but failed to pull it out. See more Alejandro C Sep 10 Un auténtico bodrio que no pude terminar de ver. Los soldados parecen todos retrasados mentales y emplean medios para acabar con una muda que ni la OTAN. Absolutamente insoportable 👎👎👎😡 See more Horror fan 4 Aug 24 A very brutal movie. Angel is a great character and the performance of hers is fantastic. Tim Treakle See more Ralph R Jul 25 The Seasoning House (2012) is a surprisingly strong indie film by Paul Hyett, who’s better known for his special effects work on horror titles like The Descent and The Woman in Black. Here, he steps into the director’s seat and delivers something gritty and disturbing, using his background to shape a brutal but meaningful story. Co-written with Conal and Adrian, and based on an original idea by Helen Salomon, the film isn’t just horror for the sake of it, it leans into real-world horrors, focusing on the trafficking and exploitation of women during war. Rosie Day completely impressed me in her mostly silent role as Angel. There’s a raw intensity in her performance that carries the entire film. Sean Pertwee brings his usual edge as Gorean, and Kevin Howarth as Victor plays his role with just the right amount of cold menace. For a modest-budget movie, the production really holds its ground, the sound design and music set the tone well, and some of the camera work adds to that claustrophobic tension. You can see the effort in the small details too, especially in how the film highlights the psychological and physical impact on the victims. Honestly, it was much better than I expected. See more Jeff R @JeffRupprecht 06/15/2024 If you think of the brutality currently being inflicted upon people whose country is being invaded, this film is not so far-fetched as some believe. Whether or not the plot and its outcome are realistic, there is satisfaction to be taken in seeing cruelty confronted by the brutalized. Remember, this is not journalism or documentary. It's art, created to move people. See more inta k 03/13/2024 pretty bland and boring. See more Read all reviews
