This is a very thoughtful, scary and extremely well shot Supernatural Thriller. This is an incredibly unconventional story with meaning, with many deep themes with plot twists and turns. Setting the film in New England in the winter gave it an extra spooky feel with lots of eery shots and stunning cinematography. The various subplots weave together keeping you on your toes, and there were lot's of scares along the way. I really liked how the filmmaker used flashbacks as a seamless way of giving the audience lots of interesting backstory to the family tragedy and the tribe that was persecuted. This was a really well executed film, especially for a low budget indie. I saw this on Amazon Prime and would say that it was better than most films in the genre that I have come across.

This was a really compelling supernatural thriller that was well executed. It had an interesting plot with multiple storylines, and at times it had me jumping outta my chair. It was the perfect scary movie to watch with my 11 year old granddaughter. The cinematography was superb and the acting was good, especially the main actor playing the lead role at the tow shop. The music was moody, and at times reminded me of Sicario, where it was really intense and dark at peak moments. Overall, the film kept me guessing all the way to the end, and then was able to wrap things up in a way that I felt worked. 8 solid stars.

The Secret of Sinchanee is a masterfully crafted supernatural thriller that effortlessly blends chilling suspense with emotional depth, and it’s anchored by a brilliant central performance and a hauntingly atmospheric narrative. Director and writer Steven Grayhm has created a film that not only delivers genuine scares but also explores themes of grief, legacy, and the weight of the past.
The story centers on an insomniac tow truck driver who returns to his childhood home after the sudden death of his father. What begins as a journey to settle his father’s affairs quickly spirals into a tense, eerie experience when he discovers that his family home is not just haunted—it’s been overshadowed by a malevolent paranormal presence tied to the land itself. The house, as much a character as any of the people, is beautifully depicted, a place that feels both familiar and threatening, as if it’s been waiting for the return of its troubled resident.
Grayhm’s script does an exceptional job of weaving together the supernatural with deeply personal stakes. The tension that builds in the film is not just from its eerie hauntings, but from the protagonist’s struggle with his own inner demons—specifically his unresolved grief and the mystery surrounding his father’s death. The way these emotional threads are intricately tied into the paranormal events adds layers of complexity to the story, making it more than just a traditional ghost story.
The atmosphere in The Secret of Sinchanee is chilling, with Grayhm’s direction creating an unnerving sense of dread that builds slowly but surely. The tension is never rushed; instead, it simmers beneath the surface, drawing the audience in as the mysteries of the house and the land slowly unfold. Cinematographer Logan Fulton brings the haunting environment to life with a combination of sweeping wide shots and claustrophobic, intimate frames, allowing the setting to feel both expansive and suffocating.
The performances are equally compelling, particularly from the lead actor, who portrays the tormented tow truck driver with a raw vulnerability that makes his descent into the house’s terrifying secrets deeply affecting. His insomnia-driven anxiety is palpable, and it grounds the more supernatural elements in something deeply human. The supporting cast also delivers, with strong performances that help fill out the world, adding layers of intrigue to the increasingly unsettling mystery.
The film’s slow-burn approach to horror is one of its greatest strengths. Rather than relying on jump scares, The Secret of Sinchanee builds its tension through atmosphere, mood, and psychological unease. The combination of a strong, emotionally driven plot with genuinely unsettling paranormal elements makes for a truly captivating experience. The final reveals are satisfying and impactful, leaving a lasting impression long after the credits roll.
In conclusion, The Secret of Sinchanee is a haunting and thoughtful film that transcends typical genre fare. Steven Grayhm has crafted a supernatural thriller that is both emotionally resonant and deeply chilling, with a story that lingers long after the film ends. With its stellar performances, stunning visuals, and expertly built tension, it’s a must-watch for fans of both psychological horror and supernatural mysteries. The Secret of Sinchanee is a remarkable achievement in modern horror cinema.

I rented this film on Prime with my teenage daughters and we all really enjoyed it. The trailer look intriguing, and to be honest, though the horror genre is not really my thing, this film was a pleasant surprise. As some have stated in these reviews, this film is more of a supernatural thriller, which again, was just fine for me and my kids. There's no coarse language or nudity and the scares really come from the supernatural aspects of the story. The cinematography is gorgeous and the acting is strong, especially by the lead actor playing Will. There were plenty of twists and jump scares that made us satisfied for the 2hr runtime. Without giving away spoilers, there is a great ending to the film that aims to please, and that's just fine by me. I like a conclusive story with mystery. I would really recommend this film, especially for parents who want to watch a film with their teenage kids.

What a beautiful film! I'm someone who is typically willing to check out flicks I've never heard of before, even with actors I may not recognize (only at first in this case). This film was a wild card for me. I had never heard about it, but the trailer was definitely intriguing and I thought it was worth a try. First off, the opening sequence pulled me right in with the set up of the centuries old folklore, to the modern day past and then jump to present day. Yes, this sounds like a lot, but it all comes together with many plot payoffs at the end that ties each of the storylines together. I really liked the stillness of the storytelling - the film simmers throughout and breathes where it needs to. I also really enjoyed some of the jump scares which are peppered throughout the film. The cinematography was exceptional and the acting was solid all the way through.

As many reviewers have already pointed out, this is a slower burn thriller that is unique (and weird in a good way) with multiple storylines that all manage to come together, giving it a mostly satisfying movie watching experience. The cinematography was exceptional, and the acting was solid. I read that the writer/director is part indigenous, and I am happy with how he dealt with these themes in the film. One of the reviews I read said that this film was made for something like $200K which is insane considering how beautiful it is, and how many big budget Hollywood films feel very flat these days. The film kept me guessing in parts, and was not too graphic. I think the exorcism scene at the end was really powerful. Especially for those who have experienced trauma in their childhood.
