Joe Lipsett Hazel & Katniss & Harry & Starr Podcast The film is less memorable than the book: it is a little too grey and happy to forego politics for explosions, but at least it keeps the book's dark ending. Rated: 3.5/5 Dec 5, 2023 Full Review Danny Brogan Common Sense Media Danish medieval fantasy has gory violence, dragons, magic. Timothy M Unique twist on a familiar fantasy trope (lower class youngster gradually manifests a rare magical ability that allows them to emerge as a hero) with a more cerebral and more spiritual dimension than what you typically see. Competently directed, acted, shot and edited. Fans of the fantasy genre looking for a new twist on a familiar theme will much appreciate this film. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/25/23 Full Review Jay K Great unique storyline with excellent chemistry between actors Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Good acting, good script, good cinamatography, and good direction! This Danish story, set in a fictional feudal society is a really enjoyable watch. Two really good young female actresses! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Tense. Looking forward for the next film in this series. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member I read the first two books in the series before I saw the movie, and I personally feel like it could have followed the book closer without making the movie too long. I can only say good things about the book, and I recommend reading it, The movie i do have my problems with, but it is in the details and the few elements i feel is missing that could have made the movie a much better story, only adding 30 minutes to the movie, making it a 2 hour movie in total, The acting that is in the movie is okay, but the world they create is awesome and believable. The realism in "The shamers daughter" is close to the level of Harry potter, the special effects, the scenes and the costumes are amazing. The story runs a bit fast for my liking, but as a production in a small country like Denmark and a first movie in the series, I see potential and maybe an American remake in its future. If the 30 minutes of character and relationship building I would have liked to see were added I would have given it 5 stars, but I still think that the story is worth 3. Again if you enjoy stories like Harry potter. you shoud give this movie a watch or even read the books aswell. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
