What to Know

Critics Consensus

The Silence has nothing new to say with a derivative premise and placid pacing -- even a wasted Stanley Tucci is unable to elevate the stodgy material a decibel above dreadful.

The estimable trio at the heart of the cast goes close to carrying the whole thing over the line, but it never feels as taut or kinetic as it needs to be. Go to Full Review

There may come a time when the Netflix algorithm grows sophisticated enough to cut out the middle man and write its own scripts, but until that day arrives, niche-targeted dreck like "The Silence" will have to suffice. Go to Full Review

The Silence has been reasonably well made by director John R. Leonetti. And he has assembled a surprisingly classy cast. Go to Full Review

The cult plot in The Silence is as poorly handled as nearly every other part of the film. With the exception of a great cast, headed by Kiernan Shipka, Stanley Tucci, and Miranda Otto, the film lacks any cohesion and feels almost unwatchable. Go to Full Review

The Silence is a painful attempt to remake A Quiet Place, which came out the year before. Though this is based on a 2015 novel of the same name, the story has already been done perfectly, leaving little to be desired in this straight-to-streaming flick. Go to Full Review

Black S Nov 1 Enjoyable short film, basically a poor man's Quiet Place. See more VITALII H @freakynickison Oct 28 It's basically the "Quite Place" wannabe. Same concept, you can't speak and make any noise. It wasn't bad, it was okay. Ending was weird, I was expecting some bigger "solution" let's say, but we got what we got. Not revisiting for sure. It's impossible not to compare with "A Quite Place" and it was a lot better then this movie. U can give it a shot but only you are in desperate need of a new movie that you haven't seen. See more Rachel I Aug 15 Not as thrilling as his family’s The Quiet Place from the year before, but solid acting and an endearing cast really make this a solid movie. Good enough to watch at least once. (If you like this style) See more Kyle W Aug 1 i wouldn't say it was great it didn't have that good of a plot i would say the cultist really had no effect on the movie i think they were there for extra run time over all it was decent but they could do better the acting was good also See more giraffe b Aug 1 This movie isnt bad. It can be a little cringe at times, but its still pretty good. The movie felt weirdly short, and the decisions made are pretty weird. Good acting See more Bill W Jun 26 It was okay. Not a must see but it wasn't bad. See more Read all reviews
