Despite a hackneyed opening, The Silent Planet soars thanks to a whip-smart screenplay from director Jeffrey St. Jules, engagingly delivered by Elias Koteas and Briana Middleton, who play prisoners sent to an otherwise deserted planet. Go to Full Review

Shooting in actual locations gives The Silent Planet a sense of tactile reality, and Koteas and Middleton bring genuine emotional vulnerability to the heightened scenario. Go to Full Review

Jonah K Sep 22 The two leads carry a very well-acted slow-paced movie about mental illness, murder, suspicion and unreality. The Silent Planet is atmospherically sullen. Nathan, played by Reuben Fredrick Grear, hears what may or may not be his own voice echoed in his mind, or it may be a gaseous entity living on the planet. Did he murder Niyya, played by Briana Middlestone's, family or are their thoughts being affected by the gaseous creature which may or may not be real. A very enjoyable movie. See more Logan D Jun 13 Due to an error, two convicts, Theodore and Niyya (Elias Koteas, Brianna Middleton) end up on a barren planet together. Niyya begins to suspect Theodore is someone tied to her past. A character study with an engaging screenplay and grounded performances, especially from Koteas. Yes, that's Casey Jones from the 1990 live action Teenage Mutant Turtles film. From an ethical view, I loved that it questions whether we should forgive someone of a crime when they don't recall it.
