Apprenticed to the blacksmith Bendet (Ben-Zvi Baratoff) at age 15, Yankel (Moishe Oysher) grows up a heartless womanizer. Despite his attraction to Rivke (Florence Weiss), a flirtatious young wife who's unhappy with her husband, Raffuel (Michael Goldstein), Yankel grows interested in modest Tamara (Miriam Riselle) and marries her, promising to become a better man. Yankel's determination to settle down is shaken when Rivke divorces her husband and comes to steal him away from Tamara.
