Jonathan Holland The Hollywood Reporter Skin plays out with the clarity, simplicity, rawness and grim poetry of a folk tale, tackling on the way some pretty elemental themes, but it's a tale as told by a very dull speaker. Carol S I thought it was very entertaining. The storyline and the actors held my interest and the scenery was beautiful. There wasn't much dialogue but you understood the story line completely. Don't watch it if noisy eating bother you, the man eats like a pig. Good flick otherwise. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/18/24 Full Review Ian W Got to say it like I saw it. I hated this film. Unrelenting misery. You could have put the whole script on a piece of A4. Without hardly any verbal it was impossible to build up any kind of connection with the characters. The main protagonist is a rapist. The two female characters are just pieces of meat who get pregnant and then die. The 'action' is slow. And dull. And boring. In a similar vein to the Spanish film "Nowhere" - it was at least an hour longer than it needed to be. Would have been 1/10, but there were some nice shots of the Pyrenees. 2/10. Avoid, and save 2 hours of your life. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/18/24 Full Review Gerald C This is a good test of sensibilities. Those that say it are boring have no emotional intelligence. It's a remarkable film that will make you analyze your feelings and thoughts. Very sad journey that exposes who the wolves in sheep's clothing really are and who are just sheep in the skin of a wolf. Tremendous acting and cinematography Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/05/23 Full Review nilufer e It was a rather uneventful drama but keeps one interested even with so few dialogues. I almost felt sorry for the beast of a man for his loneliness but not so much. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/02/23 Full Review Sven J Visually magnificent with authentic characters and an interesting yet slowly developing story. Such a wonderful change of pace from the norm. Certainly one of my favorite films to watch in some time. One caveat, this is not an exciting film and there is perhaps 10m total of dialogue in the entire film. With a twist, it is basically the life of a 19th century trapper in the mountains and the changes to his life that occur as a result of his marriage "purchase" of his wife. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/14/20 Full Review Audience Member This movie is an art house depiction the historical Human-nature relationship. If you want something different that bangs on creativity (screenplay), acting (both casting director and actors), and directors ability to portrait 'the deep' on film through his use of space (between the dialog) stillness and silence then go see this film. It is worth purchasing just to support more of the team of people that made it, if you ask me... Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews
