Jacob B May 8 Gunning more for the Adam West Batman crowd than the Superman crowd, whose movies proved that superheroes could be taken seriously, this pilot for a failed TV adaptation of The Spirit has its moments of goofy charm but the miscast lead and indecisiveness over how much of it to play straight or tongue-in-cheek make this a much more boring film compared to the more amusingly bad, sanctioned ripoff of Sin City that was the 2008 film.
