Audience Member I'm not exactly sure why I loved this movie, but I did. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Well, i certainly didn't expect this movie to be as good as it was. It was a bit slow off the start, but by the end that slow build up worked, as it catches you by surprise. Really what works in this movie is all in the main character's acting, as the move doesn't have particularly great cinematography, or much else going for it. Inparticularly the actress playing Lolita, Abigail Spencer, did a great job, and i think the two negative reviews don't give enough credit to this film. Anyway, I liked this movie, was nice also to see fresh writing. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member After a long day with no sales, depressed ice cream salesman Kenny Parker (Chris Messina) meets Lolita Nowicki (Abigail Spencer), an actuary, at a bridge. The two discuss their suicidal feelings and discover they have the same therapist, Frank. Amused by the coincidence, they walk through Chicago, discussing the various forms of therapy suggested by Frank. As they pass a hotel, a man in a Mercedes mistakes Kenny for a valet and hands him his keys. Lolita grabs them and encourages Kenny to join her in a road trip to the Golden Gate Bridge, where they can both commit suicide. Kenny hesitates, assuring Lolita that he has something to live for, but he can not provide an answer when she prompts him... Theri Linden of The Hollywood Reporter called it "equal parts rom-com contrivance and soulful chemistry". Linden said Spencer's character is not believable but praised Messina's acting and chemistry with Spencer. "The Sweet Life" is a bit uneven and a not completely convincing drama channeling a tribute to life (and a voice for preventing suicides). The fact is that when you look at it there will always be something in life worth living for. Even how hard it might look like, there´s help to get. Despite the grim subject matter there´s a lighter and humorous approach at times in the film. Chris Messina and Abigail Spencer are good as their characters as they have chemistry, but most of the time the characters are not that likeable. "The Sweet Life" is an ok indie drama with a heavy subject matter that will always be current. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member It's amazing movie. All movies u can find using boxxy software in any audio language Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Just a wonderful, unusual, surprising, life affirming gem of a story. We learn why two depressed & beaten down people became this way & how they find their way to a real & hopeful life. The characters exhibit a profound care & gentleness for each other that often seems lost in our culture. Thanks to the director, writer 7 cast. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member quirky. honest. funny. heartfelt. so much than just about every mainstream romcom. David Bax Battleship Pretension The Sweet Life mocks its subject and its audience alike. Jan 6, 2021 Full Review Christopher James AwardsCircuit.com For as formula as the film appears to be, it doesn't seem to decide on the tone until the final moments.
