Michael Atkinson Village Voice Yang keeps all of the balls in the air, resisting definitive answers and conjuring a lean-in sense of intimate dread. The film is a puzzle piece that doesn't resolve neatly, yet done in smart, intriguing way, you can't help but admire Yang's skills as a filmmaker. steve c For most of the movie, I was terrorized by the lack of a plot. What the hack was I watching? Just hang on to the end and you will agree that some people should be cursed for life or deserve sterility. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Jigsaw after jigsaw, the overall picture of The Terrorizers splendidly and realistically combines Taiwan's 80s capitalistic society with the paradoxical elements of a kill-them-all finale of a novel. As this wasn't enough, watching Yang's work, a leap into sub-realism makes the ending a puzzle of reality and fiction, which ultimately composes a beautifully sophisticated drama. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Edward Yang's MASTERPIECE. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Though I'm not sure whether Yang looks up to Altman or not, but both directors share the same mastery of multi-narrative that is not frequently seen. Which, of course, I admire. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member 170223 This movie is like a bottle of vintage wine.
