Richard Whittaker Austin Chronicle Even at a sparse 80 minutes, the build of the tension and set-up of Cami and Spencer's mistrusting relationship is too extended. If the film is asking asking you to pay it in time, the return on investment may seem a little low. Rated: 2.5/5 Mar 30, 2021 Full Review Odie Henderson RogerEbert.com The toll to be collected here is 80 minutes of your time. The most terrifying thing you can do is pay it. Rated: 1.5/4 Mar 26, 2021 Full Review Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News Michael Nader keeps it lean and mean for his first horror feature, and the result is a creepy winner. Rated: 3/4 Mar 25, 2021 Full Review Jessica Scott Ghouls Magazine The Toll feels like it wants to make a point about women surviving in a world that’s designed to hurt them, but ultimately it just asks them to keep accepting the hurt in the name of entertainment. Dec 22, 2022 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies The intro is tense and suspenseful, but by the end it’s inability to sell or even explain its big baddie left me questioning the point of the entire second half. Rated: 2.5/5 Aug 17, 2022 Full Review Dennis Harvey 48 Hills The Toll keeps getting more silly and second-hand, until it springs a late "twist" which haplessly undermines the logic of most character behavior before it. Emilliano Jr S Scary, intense, superb. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/17/24 Full Review Craig B Jordan Hayes and Max Topplin are okay in this passable horror flick. It’s not particularly scary, but it does have an interesting premise. Thankfully, at a touch over 80 minutes, you won’t have wasted much time on this once you get to the end and discover you really wish you could have that time back again. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/14/24 Full Review Hugo Indie movie with an eerie atmosphere and a solid performance despite its limited resources. "The Toll" does a great job in playing tricks with our minds until the very end. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/24/22 Full Review Audience Member Another ride-share movie. TOTALLY creepy until the anti-climatic ending. Unlike the others, it kept you glued until you saw the final episode and are like wait what? Still a decent watch. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Jim M When you see the car's speedometer reading zero when the car is supposedly cruising along a road, you might begin to suspect that this lack of attention to obvious details might be indicative of the movie in general. In this case you'd be right. While the first 20 minutes or so are a decent build-up, it descends rapidly from there into horror clichedom. I didn't finish it; I'm posting this so you know not to start it. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/02/21 Full Review Audience Member This was honestly one of the worst movies I've ever watched from start to finish, if I hadn't rented for $5.99 I would have shut off after 20 minutes. Don't waste your money!! The acting, plot and script were so bad and predictable I was legitimately laughing throughout the movie. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
