Critics Consensus

Chris Pratt ably anchors this sci-fi adventure, even if The Tomorrow War may not linger in the memory much longer than today.

Audience Says

It isn't the most surprising time-travel movie, but a satisfying story and plenty of entertaining action make The Tomorrow War well worth a watch.

Roxana Hadadi Polygon Narratively padded and visually overstuffed with CGI, The Tomorrow War plays out like Starship Troopers drained of Paul Verhoeven's subversive satire. Jul 24, 2021 Full Review Leah Greenblatt Entertainment Weekly It does, in its cheap-and-cheerful way, have fun. Rated: B- Jul 12, 2021 Full Review Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News "The Tomorrow War" is the surprise of the season, a stuffed-to-the-gills battle between evil aliens and terrified humans. Rated: 3.5/4 Jul 9, 2021 Full Review Michael Cook Geek Vibes Nation A pretty average action film that’s buoyed by solid directing, an incredibly game cast, some cool sci-fi concepts, and a lot of excellent and well-paced action sequences. Audience Member The family aspects of this movie really hit home for me. My daughter is 12. Life is tough and it can distract us from the most important things that have always been right there in front of us. The things that make life really worth living. Our families. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/07/25 Full Review Ryan N I really enjoyed this movie. Chris Pratt is my new Harrison Ford actor. I loved the premise of the time travel and mixing it with aliens was great! Now these are the type of aliens ID4 should have used. I loved seeing Yvonne Strahovki. Big fan of hers since Chuck! The story wasn't perfect but still not bad. Sam Richardson was hilarious. I hope they do a sequel!!!! This one of the movies Amazon got right!!!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/04/25 Full Review Rod's R Too many plot holes, with formulaic tropes, oh and spoiler alert, when the white spikes are destroyed in the present, the Future War never happens so the ending should be a cut back to the soccer game but this time no future soldiers appear and the movie ends with some heart warming family stuff. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/03/25 Full Review Giovanni R I love time travel. I like alien movies. I enjoy action. It's weird I couldn't enjoy more than 20 minutes in Total ot this movie. It's a mashup of Alien, Battlestar galactica, spaceship troopers and some horrible action movie with a comic twist... Like The core or Family Guy. The movie was predictable, boring and unrealistic. To make this story fit until the end the Total duration had to be 6 hours, but no one cared o they didn't have the money to fill the mysterious gaps between the scenes. Two hours of my life trashed like this. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 07/28/25 Full Review Niconas L Great action scenes and fun story and concept. Acting was pretty good as well. I enjoyed the movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/26/25 Full Review RLGM I My personally enjoyed the movie and the plot. Overall, it a fun movie from start to finish and has good replay value.
