Critics Consensus

Chris Pratt ably anchors this sci-fi adventure, even if The Tomorrow War may not linger in the memory much longer than today.

Audience Says

It isn't the most surprising time-travel movie, but a satisfying story and plenty of entertaining action make The Tomorrow War well worth a watch.

Roxana Hadadi Polygon Narratively padded and visually overstuffed with CGI, The Tomorrow War plays out like Starship Troopers drained of Paul Verhoeven's subversive satire. Jul 24, 2021 Full Review Leah Greenblatt Entertainment Weekly It does, in its cheap-and-cheerful way, have fun. Rated: B- Jul 12, 2021 Full Review Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News "The Tomorrow War" is the surprise of the season, a stuffed-to-the-gills battle between evil aliens and terrified humans. Rated: 3.5/4 Jul 9, 2021 Full Review Zach Pope Zach Pope Reviews It’s not perfect, it won’t be the next big classic, but with greatly done action, awesome alien design, & A FANTASTIC STANDOUT PERFORMANCE from Yvonne Strahovski! PUT HER IN MORE THINGS PLEASE Jul 26, 2023 Full Review Manuel São Bento MSB Reviews The Tomorrow War is one of the biggest surprises of the year, boasting an impressively creative creature design, entertaining action sequences, and a contender for the most beautiful shot of 2021. Rated: B Jul 25, 2023 Full Review Cory Woodroof For the Win (USA Today) It’s only fitting that Chris Pratt honors his place among the Schwarzeneggers by doing the kind of sci-fi action movie Arnold would’ve done in the 90s. Audience Member This is a Big Mac-movie experience. You know what you get beforehand. The plot is at best cringy and the actions taken to avoid the threat are less believable than the aliens and the time travel. I'm not kidding. In all fairness, it's got some nice family interaction that I think most adults can relate to. The script, the script , the script. It amazes me that professionals in the extremely competitive movie industry are willing to spend their days executing something like this. Why not make the characters and the plot somewhat believable? Why not give it some life? Does it have to taste like Big Mac to get green lit? Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 07/26/24 Full Review Lars P A very average Sci-Fi-action movie. The monsters are CGI-dreck, nothing special and fighting more and more of them ads nothing. OK, for a rainy Sunday afternoon, not OK enough for a night at the movies! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/12/24 Full Review Edijs S great movie i enjoyed the action and the human characters, the aliens were amazing. Cgi was great and realistic idk what would a the tomorrow war 2 be about if it comes out, I think this movie deserves more love then people give Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/10/24 Full Review Sean S Great CGI, ugly alien, terribly predictable and uninteresting movie in every other aspect. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review Zhapy A really really like the cgi, it's so cool watching the whole thing. My dad loves this movie too. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/03/24 Full Review Matthew L Great movie that has you caring about the main characters early on. Doesn’t take long to jump into the action, and the alien invaders are just as badass/scary as you might think from watching the trailer (if not more so). I haven’t gotten to the end, so this might be a little premature, but I love it so far halfway through. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/01/24 Full Review Read all reviews
