Critics Consensus

Chris Pratt ably anchors this sci-fi adventure, even if The Tomorrow War may not linger in the memory much longer than today.

Audience Says

It isn't the most surprising time-travel movie, but a satisfying story and plenty of entertaining action make The Tomorrow War well worth a watch.

Roxana Hadadi Polygon Narratively padded and visually overstuffed with CGI, The Tomorrow War plays out like Starship Troopers drained of Paul Verhoeven's subversive satire. Jul 24, 2021 Full Review Leah Greenblatt Entertainment Weekly It does, in its cheap-and-cheerful way, have fun. Rated: B- Jul 12, 2021 Full Review Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News "The Tomorrow War" is the surprise of the season, a stuffed-to-the-gills battle between evil aliens and terrified humans. Carter G. Unlike some of the reviews on here that are too focused on the time-travel science and inter-workings, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie from start to finish. I think this movie works best when you take the movie for what it is instead of trying to put on your astrophysicist cap. I really enjoyed the family element, the non-stop action, and the special effects. The aliens themselves were a suspenseful and highly anticipated reveal throughout the movie, and the aliens do the movie justice when they are finally shown. I think the movie concept in and of itself was very original, and I enjoyed the acting abilities showcased from the main characters. I consider this movie to be an action-packed, underrated sci-fi classic that more people should take a chance on. 87/100 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/10/25 Full Review Shantanu R The Tomorrow War is an okay-ish movie. Made-for-TV level visual effects could've been great. Sure, it’s got big and loud action, but nothing to rattle you to your core. It creates a lot of moments where you feel it's going to get better but leaves you with a huge question mark on your face. This movie is simply a hit-or-miss. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/09/25 Full Review Han A. Alright, action scenes were cool and a awesome concept Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/08/25 Full Review Corey R Movie makes no sense in too many ways to even begin. Chris Pratt is a vanilla movie star. Waste of time. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 07/07/25 Full Review Korra N A visually captivating blockbuster that sadly falls back on cliches & retreads familiar sci-fi plot beats, with most of the characters being one-note. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/04/25 Full Review Charles C I watched this with trepidation. I fully expected very little of this movie. I am a fan of Chris Pratt in GOTG movies, but not so much in most of his other movies. Imagine my surprise when I find myself drawn into the story and rooting for Chris's character. I enjoyed this movie immensely and recommend it to everyone. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/30/25 Full Review Read all reviews
