Kyle Smith New York Post Its clichs grow slightly funny. But not funny enough to make the endless torture scenes bearable. Rated: 0/4 Jun 15, 2012 Full Review Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times [It] suggests only that ferreting out new ways to inflict pain requires more imagination than anyone on hand realized. Rated: 2/10 Jun 2, 2021 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com This uninspired exercise frighteningly proves that torture porn revenge has become merely pedestrian. Jul 25, 2019 Full Review Brent Simon Shockya.com A stupendously inane and pointless slice of revenge-based horror whose title might as well describe the audience watching it. Todd M Great movie from start to finish Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/28/24 Full Review Audience Member The concept was good: parents of child that was killed abduct the killer and torture him when justice isn't served. But weird twists and some far out happenings make it less believable. Not Christensen's finest. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved the movie. Disappointing twist felt bad for the innocent guy. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie had a major mistake. If the torture victim was not actually the right killer, how was he able to tell the parents their sons name???? No idea how the filmmakers messed that up. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Twisted and heart-breaking. And actually sends a message. A simple message, but a message. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member //i discuss major spoilers here\\ I can say I enjoyed this film, but I can also say it had a bit of plot holes and felt too convenient at times for the sake of the story. For instance, the fact Craig happens to be a doctor with easy access to excessive medical supplies and then the plot twist being based on two prisoners looking virtually the same and the couple getting them mixed up. The twist surprised me, at least, but after some thought was disappointing, especially since we didn't see how the couple reacted to the truth. I wonder how they could've lived with knowing not only did they torture the wrong guy, but a guy who didn't deserve it for just a crime like tax evasion. Uh, talk about mortifying? Anyways, while the plot is a rather hot mess, the torture scenes were in fact tense and interesting. I went into this movie not really expecting a phenomenal or creative film in any way, just something horrific enough to pique my interest. And that's essentially all there is to this film.
