      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

The True Adventures of Wolfboy can be frustratingly uneven, but a worthy story and compassion for its characters help make this coming-of-age story's flaws easy to forgive.

John B I thought it was good overall and an interesting story, but I just felt that they could have done more with it. Some of the stuff didn't really add up, like burning down the carnival & having that guy chasing him throughout the whole movie. Good ending where he finds his family & grandfather to talk to about his situation. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/26/23 Full Review Krytof K It was PERFECT. PERFECT. Everything into the last minute details! (Its wolfin time) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/11/22 Full Review Audience Member This movie was very sensitive and emotional. It really goes deep into the human condition. The bullies don't make life easier it makes it harder for the boy. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie starts off a little shakily but stay with it, the characters will soon draw you in to this wonderful coming of age story. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Funny and likeable and so were the characters even though they made a lot of bad decisions. Is the best film one of the actors from It has been in. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Great fairy-tale if a movie. Very enjoyable! Leslie Felperin Guardian This fey, magical realism fable is an interesting mixture of winning charm, smug knowingness and vulnerability. Rated: 3/5 Mar 12, 2021 Full Review Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times This is a good-looking film with some nice stylistic touches and even a nod to Turturro's legendary Jesus Quintana character from The Big Lebowski. But it never addresses some real behavioral problems... Rated: 2/4 Nov 6, 2020 Full Review Amy Nicholson FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) At every moment, I was holding my breath and waiting for this film to become treacle, just absolute cotton candy. To the credit of director Martin Krejcí and writer Olivia Dufault: they take some time choices. They don't sugarcoat everything. Oct 30, 2020 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies I admire its willingness to try new things even if they don’t always land. Rated: 3/5 Aug 27, 2022 Full Review Witney Seibold Critically Acclaimed Podcast Good golly, I loathe this movie. Apr 22, 2021 Full Review Hilary A White Sunday Independent (Ireland) Its emotional authenticity makes it a good film for (not just) young people. Rated: 3/5 Apr 2, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews
