Audience Member "What is it, a boy or a girl?!" Henry Jekyll, a bit of a dolt and grandson to the famous doctor of the same name, discovers his grandfather's secret formula. Upon consuming the concoction he becomes suave and admired, despite being an absolute jerk. He has a cute pixie his age romantically interested in him, but as Ted Hyde he chases teenies. Ted then gets mixed up in a jewel robbery, which gives us the most entraining parts of the film. Hammer Films did two other takes on "Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde" ("The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll" & "Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde"), but this was their only comedic version of Robert Louis Stevenson's sci-fi/horror story, somewhat reminiscent of a proto-"Nutty Professor". For a long while this was considered to be a lost film, but now that it's found, I'd only recommend to horror-comedy fanatics or Hammer Films completists. If you want a comedic take on the famous Gothic story, just watch "Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde". Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Read all reviews
