Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald At times it works a little too hard in devising the menu of eccentricities that make up the characterisations, but it’s fun watching this team of consummate professionals balance the comic and the poignant while deftly keeping mawkishness at bay. Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 14, 2022 Full Review David Stratton The Australian Most of the characters in The Villa are engaging, the performances are good, and Gilou’s heart is certainly in the right place. Jul 12, 2022 Full Review James Croot Stuff.co.nz While veteran director Thomas Gilou’s tale follows a series of predictable beats, reversals and revelations, the delights of The Villa are in the details and the characters. Audience Member Overall, The Villa is highly recommended if you seek a feel-good comedy with touching moments of drama.  I had a great time with this film thanks to the many different characters and likeable performances displayed here.  While the plot may seem familiar, I still had a wonderful time with the many heartfelt moments and witty gags along the way, and as the credits rolled, I was left feeling quite impressed and encouraged.
