Critics Consensus

The Wall makes the most of its limitations -- albeit perhaps not quite enough to stretch its tight-focused action into a consistently gripping feature-length thriller.

The dialogue ("We're not so different, you and I") can sound a little ripe, but the action is appropriately brutish and impeccably timed. Go to Full Review

It's an interesting premise, with moments of tension and visceral gore, but Taylor-Johnson's performance isn't strong enough to rescue the film from lengthy stretches of banality. Go to Full Review

Like waterboarding, it ought to qualify as "cruel and unusual punishment". Go to Full Review

...mostly due to its modest length and effective lead performance, I'm inclined to give The Wall a modest recommendation... Go to Full Review

Though overall it may be better to wait for the home viewing, for those looking for tension-filled distraction on film and in a darkened theater, The Wall is for you. Go to Full Review

Too one-dimensional and not nearly compelling enough for the big screen. Go to Full Review

Frank B Nov 26 Definately not what I expected. Great movie. I think because John Cena was in it people thought it would be another kick ass movie. It was much deeper than I anticipated with some big surprises. See more Ali R Nov 8 Interesting story overall, however, unrealistic for the most part. Hacking into comms and the ending made no sense at all. The wrap up was terrible and could've been made a lot better into a cliffhanger for many more parts to come. It would've been cool to see the Ghost (Juba) or have sort of continuation of his story in future movies. See more Stephen C @bob25009 Jul 12 Success in 1.5 hours!!!!!!!!! Starring John Cena as Shane Matthews!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The USA grossed over $1,800,000.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See more Sphere S Jun 29 I was really into this movie. But I was disappointed with the ending. It made no sense (especially physics wise). They should have stuck to the original ending. This completely lost the build up during the movie. It went from "possibly authentic" to pure fiction. See more Jennifer R Feb 20 Not your typical "American hero soldiers who never do anything bad or make a mistake" military movie. Offers a subtle and realistic take on military occupation. Pacing was a little slow but Aaron-Taylor Johnson is great and was able to build enough tension to make it entertaining. The end makes it all worth it. See more Gareth D Dec 12 My kind of film. Really enjoyed it See more Read all reviews
