Synopsis
Based on his autobiographical novella, this film centers on Vaikom Muhammad Basheer (Mammootty), an outspoken writer in 1940s India, whose work openly objects to the Britain's imperialistic control of his homeland. His unapologetic dissent draws the wrath of the British, and Vaikom is imprisoned for his so-called treason. To his surprise, while behind bars, Vaikom begins a recurring conversation with an unseen female prisoner in a nearby compound. Despite their confinement, love blooms.
