[a] kitsch-fu confection, with its overblown sentimentalism matched only by its tacky day-glo backgrounds... The action choreography, however, is imaginative and excellent. Go to Full Review

The themes are dealt with rather hastily, however. The martial arts action also feels a little truncated. But it's the central relationship, the intense, transforming romantic encounter between warrior and witch, that is the least successful element. Go to Full Review

Effective direction from Jacob Leung, but the great romance gets lost in a plot thick with politics... Go to Full Review

[The] White Haired Witch is visually stunning... It is a pity that these aspects cannot save the film from being an overcomplicated vision of what is a relatively simple story. Go to Full Review

Had these sub-plots been spread out over multiple episodes of a TV series, they may have seen more life. Go to Full Review

"White Haired Witch" is plagued with a copious cast and an overly complex storyline. Keeping track of everyone is difficult and the screenplay is laughably bad in spots, making it even less palatable. Go to Full Review

11/08/2018 Love is the deadliest poison See more 04/07/2017 I enjoyed it. It is a typical wuxia movie, but worth watching once. See more 06/29/2016 Basically a retelling of the "Bride with White Hair" martial arts movie. Most of the movie is good and solid but the ending really really hurt it. Just totally rushed when it could of been expanded on more. Also, while it is a retake or remake i was kind of hoping going in that it would be more of a expansion on the character outside of the original movies kind of like her appearance in The Forbidden Kingdom. But 90% of the movie is good so definitely worth checking out. 8/10 See more 05/12/2016 Dammit to almost all fantasy martial art Chinese movies. Why they can't just have a happy ending. See more 01/24/2016 Lots of wire work but not alot of point. See more 01/07/2016 this was pretty tacky. See more Read all reviews
