Audience Member Srdjan Koljevic comes up with his second film after his directorial debut "The Red Colored Grey Truck" (2004) - one of my favourites - which won 11 international awards. He is better known as a screenwriter and co-writer (for 10 feature films), among which are such films as The Trap", Love and Other Crimes", The Hornet" and "Say Why Have You Left Me". If you have cravings for an artful and wise movie, here writer-director Srdjan Koljevic delivers a delightful one, spicing it with unexpected turns and a satisfying tone of wary optimism. This smooth, pleasing urban shaggy-dog drama starts on a bridge in rainy night-time Belgrade where few well-meaning characters who witness a woman's apparent suicide jump, stumble along revealing their raggedy lives. Woman who jumped from the bridge left a baby behind in the taxi and the film starts following Gavrilo, the taxi driver, a hard-boiled Bosnian refugee... who is stuck with the baby. Other witnesses were Anica, the high school teacher - a woman still in grief for losing her son by car accident and the pharmacist Bijiana who suddenly realizes that she doesn't want to marry her fiancé and runs away... The director (and writer) Koljevic is showing us outstanding capability of understanding the everyday people and their struggle through well developed characters. In clashes with impossible loves, unexpected saviours in different ways save each other and discover or re-discover reason for living! I personally love Belgrade, and this could be taken as a movie about Belgrade today in a moment where everyone starts forgetting the years of wars, destruction and hate, turning to the other side of life, love and overcoming the scars of the past. The casting was one of the best I've seen in the recent movies from the Balkan: Neboja Glogovac, Nada Shargin, Anica Dobra, Branka Katic, Vuk Kostic, Jasna Zhalica, Nikola Rakocevic, Vojin Cetkovic, Nikola Djuricko... were all stars here, performing the best possible way! Prepare yourself to enjoy unexpectedly lovely story intertwined and connected as a road movie within a city, portraying Belgrade in a new, slightly different way, establishing closeness with the characters, with an abundant dose of humour. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member nice role by glogovac, acting a bosnian taxi driver. but movie it self ain't that good, Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
