jean-pierre m This serie is lovable, the special effects are mesmerizing. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/04/23 Full Review Neil C Wuxia was better before CGI, and they put spectacle before real fight choreography... but the set design, costuming and high-fantasy feel of this adaptation of Baku Yumemakura work made for an entertaining viewing. Fun. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/26/23 Full Review mic t Oh yes! Very well-made movie crammed full of excellent scenes, Chinese Fantasy, martial arts and magic! I am so glad Netflix provided this movie. More please! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Late R There's some great imagery and there's some really cheesy imagery, too; believe it or not, that's pretty much the most positive thing I have to say about ‘The Yinyang Master'. Chinese studios often have a tendency to go a bit OTT with the flashiness of some of their mythically inspired, wuxia films, but this just took it to a level where it's often bordering on ‘Power Rangers' level of silliness. The result is something that's clearly focused on visuals alone and neglects everything else making it a shallow mess with not much to say. Neither the story nor the characters are remotely interesting, unique or have anything that would give you a reason to feel particularly attached to them (the most memorable character is a red baby that doesn't utter one intelligible word, I guess that says everything); in fact, they could hardly be more generic. So yeah, production design is pretty nice and there are at least a few scenes that, visually, are lovely to look at, but that's about it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/17/22 Full Review Audience Member Pretty bad Disney-style version, doesn't come close to the "Dream of Eternity" one. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member I really enjoyed the CGI-filled Chinese Fantasy movie with Xianxia elements. The movies got insane action sequences, great cinematography, and a decent story that keeps you hooked till the end. It has some good laughs and an undercurrent of romance. The CGI is decent but needed more work. I watched this movie (The Yinyang Master) after seeing the excellent movie of the same name released a few months earlier (The Yin-Yang Master: Dream of Eternity). While they are from the same source material both are very different movies having a different cast, being a non-Chinese right till the end I felt the leads were the same guy, quite embarrassing. While theis movie is a fun watch when comparing the two movies I do feel it's inferior to the other one which was more complex and better polished. Roger Moore Movie Nation This has a "only for fans of the game" vibe. Even by origin story standards, it's a mess. Rated: 1.5/4 Mar 24, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews
