Adrian Mack Georgia Straight The cold hard message is that reconciliation-and more vitally, understanding-means a hell of a lot more than sending Trudeau up to the podium with another apology. Dec 1, 2017 Full Review Susan G. Cole NOW Toronto The film has a strong emotional force. It helps that Zweig's personal guide is his friend Lucie Idlout, whose charisma and personal pain give the movie real power. Rated: 3/5 Sep 11, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member For my first (I think) Inuit-based documentary, There Is a House Here was not bad. There's the typical mix of interviewees that are interesting to varying degrees. The friend (Lucy) who guides him through the community and interviews is almost equal parts very interesting and engaging, and overly melodramatic at times. So no matter where Europeans went in the New Land, North, Central, or South, the indigenous peoples were fucked. And a great many still are. It's a very common recipe: kill/run off; encamp those who remain or force them to the farthest regions with limited resources; marginalize; disenfranchise; severely limit access to quality education or jobs; always keep them stocked with plenty of alcohol.
