Nell Minow Movie Mom Writer/director Anahita Ghazvinizadeh gives the film a lyrical, meditative quality. Rated: B+ Apr 24, 2018 Full Review Jude Dry indieWire Though Ghazvinizadeh's voice is wholly her own, Kiarostami's influence is all over They. And if you're going to borrow from someone, one of the most singular filmmakers of the last 50 years isn't a bad place to start. Rated: A- May 25, 2017 Full Review Nick Schager Variety Featuring a doggedly pretentious style, "They" also includes clunky scripting, with every conversational exchange coming across as a didactic information dump recited by actors rather than a natural chat between actual people. May 19, 2017 Full Review MaryAnn Johanson Flick Filosopher Tender and contemplative, but as it meanders to its not-quite conclusion, it misses a ripe opportunity to give a stronger voice to a character the likes of which isn't often heard. Rated: 3/5 May 8, 2018 Full Review Nikki Baughan Screen International A mature and moving study of childhood, growth and identity. May 19, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Half the movie was about a dinner party, that had nothing to do with the main theme. The multiple dialogs made it impossible to follow. It's one thing to switch from English to subtitles, but to have multiple conversations amoungst the family members some of it in English and some in Farci with subtitles is just too distracting to follow the conversations. Not to mention, the dialog during the party had nothing to do with the main character. When the story turns back to the main character we are left wondering what decision was made about their future.
