Even though the narrative is a bit simplistic and we don't get much in the way of a backstory or closure, "Third Kind" works quite well as an allegory about not only the refugee crisis (the excellent memories sequence in particular is poignant) but also how societies in general leave some people behind and how what can sometimes be misconstrued as a helping hand might turn out to be a condescending act of selfishness. Regardless, the photography and visuals throughout are certainly a high point.
