When notorious gangster Louis Garrett (Charles Bickford) murders the local tailor, a group of high school students are incensed at the fact that Garrett walks away a free man. They appeal to the town's adults, but when they realize everyone is too scared to stand up to Garrett, the students take matters into their own hands. With pretty Gay Merrick (Judith Allen) acting as bait, Steve Smith (Richard Cromwell), the leader of the group, hatches a plan to lure Garrett out into the open.
