Cary Darling Fort Worth Star-Telegram/DFW.com It's sharply written, and moving without being mawkish, painting a portrait of people that we feel like we know. Rated: 5/5 May 22, 2014 Full Review Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter This beautifully acted, admirably understated drama never succumbs to mawkishness. Feb 27, 2014 Full Review Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times Though the developing bond between the two men - one of whom is virtually nonverbal - is credible and even touching, the storytelling is too oblique to reel you in. Nov 21, 2013 Full Review Frank Swietek One Guy's Opinion An admirably restrained, respectful portrait of the kinds of Americans contemporary films generally avoid showing at all--or if they do, treat with heavy-handed mawkishness. Rated: B+ May 23, 2014 Full Review Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru Melancholic, tender and understated. Rated: 7.9/10 Nov 25, 2013 Full Review Roger Moore Movie Nation Bleak, with moments of heart and even cuteness. "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" without the laughs. Audience Member Such a godly heartfelt movie with everyday struggles which made this movie real. The love between a mother and her family is nice to see as there is so much violence usually in today's movies. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Tiny cast and crew absolutely crushed it. Stellar indie drama. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Great touching Indie film based on the true life experiences of actor Marc Menchaca.... Very heartfelt and well worth seeing!!! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved this films ability to tell the story without needing to grind out every detail of this families past. The acting was so right on that we feel the naturalness of the relationships with ease. Performances were all around top notch, but CK McFarland's delivery of the mother sets the tone for the whole movie. Must see for sure. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member An unbelievable film. So beautifully done and so understated that I was truly captivated. Great performances all around, and great cinematography, giving us a real sense of small town Texas life. "This Is Where We Live," is an honest portrait of a family whose struggle, although unique, is very relatable. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
