That’s not just what you expect from a filmmaker like Vinoth, who in the very least can give you a solid informercial and a few cool fights scenes before and after it. With very little of either, Thunivu isn’t really the film one was banking on.

This feels like a heist movie parody, like a 146-minute SNL skit. The misguided direction relies on unwieldy flashbacks seemingly inserted to explain multiple overlapping stories that each weigh down the story in their own different ways.

Similar to their previous collaboration, there are both some well-executed sequences and some utterly illogical ones. Even if Vinoth were to reshoot the bus chase from his last or the boat chase from this one, the film is still far from having had to be so convoluted. Even music is good only if you take notice in parts. If only the team worked more on the flow of story telling, but I still (somehow) finished my large tub of popcorn.
