Victoria It took a generally palatable story, sympathetic characters, and talented actors and gave them unbelievably bad writing and screenplay. The writing style fell somewhere between an emotionally stunted tween and someone who had never interacted with a real person. Many of the visual effects and on-screen interactions felt forced and many moments, most notably the last ten seconds, left me wincing in secondhand embarrassment. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/22/23 Full Review Herb F The film asks if you can actually make a family. The actors proceed to answer that question through their very real performances. A bit of a hidden jewel that we were glad we saw especially given that it was Ed Asner's last one. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/14/23 Full Review mikul R Good performances. Interesting director. Lead girl was actually 14 when the movie was shot. Ed Asner of course is very good. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/12/23 Full Review Audience Member I found this over the holidays and shared it with my close family and friends. I think it will grow to be a classic in the vein of Taxi Driver. My mother and I were left talking for an hour afterward... remarkable storyline, producing and phenomenal acting. A must see. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member We heard about this film on a somewhat esoteric Jewish website. We are both longtime Edward Asner fans and de ided to check out the trailer. It looked interesting as we invested the $13 and well worth it. A simple yet complex story of a young girl from a broken family and a Holocaust survivor. Keep in mind it is not your typical Holocaust Survivor film Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Peter Rainer FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It's definitely an up and down experience qualitatively, but [Margot] Josefsohn shows some talent as a young actress and Asner is really quite good. Dec 22, 2020 Full Review Simi Horwitz The Forward Short of the late Ed Asner's nuanced, haunting, indeed memorable performance, "The Tiger Within" is predictable, awash in stereotypes, devoid of original insight, and the ending is, well, just plain implausible. Jul 28, 2023 Full Review Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru An often clunky, preachy and maudlin coming-of-age story elevated by Ed Asner and Margot Josefsohn's strong performances and their palpable chemistry. Jul 27, 2023 Full Review Michael A. Smith MediaMikes Though the film is not rated, it does deal with some serious issues. But it is the handling of those issues, and Asner’s performance, that make this film a must see! Jul 14, 2023 Full Review Marie Asner Phantom Tollbooth Director Rafel Zielinski lets the actors do what they do best. Rated: 4/5 Jul 13, 2023 Full Review Robin Holabird Robin Holabird The script moves to a place that allows for growth, understanding, and moving forward, probably more than most real life provides, but made desirable and believable by its performers.
