Shani D This movie was HYSTERICAL, start to finish! I laughed so hard that I cried, the entire movie. The characters seemed genuine, like people we all know or grew up with. There were many bits of wisdom, a loving family dynamic and overall a fun nature to the film. I couldn't help but cheer Tijuana on in his quest for success. There's something to be learned here and that is that, misery is in the mind and barriers are only capable of stopping you if you allow them. I was also very impressed to see that, not only did Romany play the main character, he also wrote, directed and edited the film. I can tell that it was a labor/project of love. Regina is hilarious as always! It will be a household classic for my husband and I. Truly loved and enjoyed this film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/28/23 Full Review Audience Member A realistic but funny view on life from the perspective of an ex convict. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/20/22 Full Review Audience Member i wasnt sure what to expect from this movie, but it was hilarious from start to finish, and it had real character development and a lot of good writing that was totally out of the blue given the slapstick tone that remains throughout the film. some of the humor is pretty low brow, but it's never really crude or offensive. i thought this was going to be a 70% at best, but i think it deserves more than a 90%. it's rare to see comedy movies of this variety really show out with a backbone to the script and solid performances all around. i was very surprised that it didn't devolve into nonsense later on like many movies of this genre, but instead followed through with a consistent pace and quality. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Surprisingly accurate and empathetic to the real issues of the industrial prison complex. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member It was funny, a little heart breaking and unexpectedly good! I had to leave a review😊 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Funny, and heartwarming. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Tim Cogshell FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) There's a certain sort of wisdom that's espoused by this character... It's really funny, but if you're really paying attention, there's some good nuggets in there, too. Aug 13, 2020 Full Review Johnny Oleksinski New York Post The plot, such as it is, is meandering, and the stereotypical humor is been there, done that. Rated: 2/4 Jul 30, 2020 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Underneath the foul-mouthed jokes, Tijuana Jackson: Purpose Over Prison has a hopeful message about ex-cons deserving a chance to turn their lives around if they have the motivation to do it. (However, some scenes in the movie do tend to get repetitive.) Aug 5, 2020 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue Malco's mix of over-the-top swagger with offbeat charm produces some scattered big laughs, yet any deeper emotional connection remains elusive as the sketchy material feels strained at feature length. Aug 1, 2020 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson San Francisco Examiner Eventually, the fluctuating character traits more or less come together in a clumsy human way, and T.J. becomes someone to root for. Rated: 3/4 Jul 31, 2020 Full Review Joyce Slaton Common Sense Media Non-stop language, sweet family love in profane comedy. Rated: 4/5 Jul 29, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews
