Y B 08/18/2024 This is one of those documentaries that uses media from the time period to attempt to tell a story. This one in particular was kind of boring and I’m still not sure what they were trying to say with it. I lived through this time period as a teenager so I wasn’t too shocked by the way things looked back then. If the value of this is to show people who were not there what it was like, perhaps it’s more informative and entertaining for them than it was for me. I think they meant to hire a narrator and their budget ran out, that's all I can think of to explain quite possibly the worst documentary of the year. Granted hindsight is 20/20 but even then I was thinking the insanity of all the doomsday-ers, religious zealots, and general absence of logic and critical thought was astonishing!! Which is a shame…Especially when there are so many questions to be answered: Was Y2K real? Was it an overreaction? Did those programmers make a difference by fixing what they did? Where are all the main characters in this story now…what are their thoughts looking back? Where are the Y2K preppers now - still on their farms and bunkers? Did they re-join society or just move onto another doomsday obsession? Do they feel foolish about their decisions? It goes on and on… Can you call yourself a documentary when you don't document anything? When you answer no questions and investigate nothing? See more Read all reviews
